Coronation Street hunk Shayne Ward set to make pop comeback eleven years after winning X Factor
The singer turned soap star plans to release new music in 2017
SHAYNE Ward is set to make a pop comeback in 2017.
The X Factor winner turned soap star is heading back into the studio in a bid to top the charts.
A source told The Sun: “Shayne can’t wait to start recording his tracks and show the nation was he’s got up his sleeve.
“He has chatted to his Coronation Street co-stars about the music and they are all fully behind him.
“This will in no way impact his Coronation Street commitments and he’s certain he can juggle both.”
He first began to dip his toe back in to the music scene earlier this year when on screen love interest Catherine Tyldesley announced he would be featuring on her album.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Soooo my good pal @shaynetward I decided it would be pretty cool to bob a duet on my Album! Highly honoured to chirp with this guy. Awesome track. Can't wait for you guys to hear!!”
Shayne also sang at pal Cath’s wedding to personal trainer Tom Pitfield earlier this year.
The pair have become firm friends after meeting on the Coronation Street set where they play on-screen lovers Aidan Connor and Eva Price.
Earlier this year Shayne told how he would "love to record music again" after singing on pal Cath's record.
“I love my job on Corrie, but I'd love to record music again. I jumped at the chance to record the duet with Cath. It was so nice to be able to be back in the studio and just sing.
“I won The X-Factor, so obviously my first love is singing."
He is currently signed in to Coronation Street to play factory owner Aidan Connor until late 2017.
Shayne shot to fame when he won the X Factor in 2005.
His debut single That’s My Goal went to number one as did his first album entitled Shayne Ward.
He later went on to reach number 2 with his follow up album Breathless in 2007 but was dropped by Syco in 2011 when his third album Obsession failed to find the same success.
He joined Coronation Street in August last year and in January bagged Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards for his portrayal of factory worker Aidan Connor.
Shayne became a dad at the start of the month when he welcomed daughter Willow May Ward to the world with former Hollyoaks actress Sophie Austin.
The pair have been dating since March and Shayne showed his daughter to the world during an appearance on the Xtra Factor two weeks ago.

A source told The Sun: “It’s definitely shocked a few people because of how fast it’s happened, but they’re completely in love and are excited about becoming first-time parents.”
He will take time off the soap to get to grips with dad duties.
