X Factor finalists 5 After Midnight snapped up by Simon Cowell’s record label Syco
It’s a vote of confidence for the boy band who finished third in the competition
X Factor runners-up 5 After Midnight are about to signed up to Simon Cowell’s record label, it has been reported.
The trio - Kieran Alleyne, Nathan Lewis and Jordan Lee – finished third on this year’s show behind Saara Aalto and winner Matt Terry.
And according to the Daily Star Sunday, the lads will sign on the dotted line to Syco, the same label that snapped up rapper finalist Honey G last week.
A source told the paper: "The boys are overjoyed and can't believe they are signing to Syco.
"Simon has been a big fan of 5 After Midnight throughout the series.
"Out of all the artists he thinks 5AM have the biggest gap in the market to play with.
"There are very few boybands around at the moment and even fewer urban boybands who dance."
Winner Matt wasn’t signed to Syco after his victory but instead was given a contract with RCA Records after it was agreed that the label would be better suited to Matt’s style of music.
Meanwhile, Saara Aalto, who finished second, has said she would be happy to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Saara, who is from Finland and auditioned twice to sing for her country in the competition in 2011 and in 2016, said she hopes it’ll be third time lucky if she got to sing for the UK.
Speaking to the Star, she said: “I would be very proud to represent the UK at Eurovision if you wanted me to.
"It is one of my dreams to perform. The UK has really embraced me and shown me so much love. I would love to pay them back by singing at Eurovision."
