The EastEnders Christmas lights made an appearance in this evening's show as Martin Fowler had a moan about them.

He branded the decorations lame and added: "I'm not the only one who thinks they're a joke."

Martin added to his best mate Kush: "Every time you mention them tonight I'll make you do a shot."

In a post on Twitter, one viewer wrote: "The Christmas lights in #eastenders look like a c**k haha lol lol lol..."

Another added: "Is it me, or do them Christmas lights on Albert Square look like something else ?!?!? #EastEnders #ChristmasLights..."

One joked: "#EastEnders randy teenagers, overfilled bins and c**p Christmas lights."

Tonight's show also spawned new conspiracy theories about the soap's Christmas storyline.

Many viewers expect Phil Mitchell to be killed off as he suffers liver failure.

But tonight, fans predicted he will be saved the death of his cousins, Ronnie and Roxy.

They are convinced one of the women will provide a suitable liver that can be used to save Phil's life.

They are expected to exit over New Year.
