‘I WISH MONEY WAS FREE’

Danniella Westbrook’s son Kai hints at money troubles just days before they’re made homeless

Kai posted the worrying tweet before it was revealed his mum had been forced onto the streets

DANNIELLA Westbrook’s son Kai Jenkins alluded to their financial problems just days before the actress became homeless.

Former EastEnders star Danniella was forced onto the streets and is now sleeping on friends’ sofas after she lost both her home and her car.

On December 7, musician Kai told his Twitter followers: “I wish money was free.”

Just eight days later, it was claimed Danniella, 43, had lost everything and was staying “here, there and everywhere” while trying to find a new home.

An insider said: “She’s been busy viewing but hasn’t found her new home.

“Obviously timing isn’t great with it being so close to Christmas but she isn’t rushing into anything and is staying with friends and family over the festive period.

Danniella now has a whole new team around her after spending a lot of 2016 surrounded by toxic people.”

Kai’s worrying tweet was posted two days before an emotional interview with The Sun On Sunday where he revealed he still has flashbacks of Danniella overdosing on cocaine.

Kai was just four when he found his mum on the brink of death and began kissing her face to try to revive her.

He said: “When I was little, I found Mum having a fit after an overdose and the memory is vivid.

“I still have flashbacks. I’ve been scared Mum would die so many times.

“If someone develops a drug addiction, their life deteriorates fast and they can die any day.

“If they feel wrong, or like they’re not good enough for this world, they have to find a way to cope.

“And for an addict, the drug becomes their security.

“So have I been scared Mum is going to die? Hundreds of times.

“Do I know Mum’s not going to die? I can’t guarantee it.

“If you play with the Devil, the Devil will play with you.

“But she’s a fighter. She wants to get better, but a lot of people have lost confidence in her.”

Danniella, who played Sam Mitchell on the BBC1 soap, blew more than £250,000 on cocaine at the height of her addiction.

Her habit was so bad the drug eroded her septum, the cartilage dividing the nostrils.

But she quit drugs in 2000 after doctors warned her £400-a-day habit would kill her.

Kai vowed he would never touch cocaine after seeing it tear his mum’s life apart.

But he admits dabbling with “softer” drugs after inheriting her “ultra addictive personality”.

Kai said: “I won’t touch cocaine as long as I live because growing up with Mum I’ve seen how bad it can get. It twists you in the head.

“But I smoke, and have smoked cannabis.

“It’s not like it doesn’t bother me, because it does — I wish I’d never touched it. But I’ve dabbled.

“It was no one’s decision but mine to smoke that first spliff.

“My mother raised me to be a good kid and I just didn’t turn out that way.

“But I’ve read a lot about addictive personalities and my mother unfortunately is one. My dad is another.

“Take two addictive personalities and you get an ultra addictive personality.”
