Who is Karren Brady?

Karren Brady was born in London on April 4, 1969, and gew up in Edmonton.

She has been married to Canadian footballer Paul Peschisolido since 1995 and has two children, Sophia and Paolo.

The pair met when at Birmingham City FC, where Peschisolido played from 1992-1994 and during which time she was managing director for the club.

In 2014's New Year Honours, Karren was given a CBE for services to entrepreneurship and women in business.

She became his assistant on The Apprentice in 2009.

Karren appeared as a guest interviewer in series four of show in 2008, interviewing the final five.

Prior to this, she was a contestant in the BBC's Comic Relief Does The Apprentice, for whom she raised more than £750,000.

Her interviewing role led to a return in series five of the show and in August 2009 it was announced that she would replace Margaret Mountford as Alan Sugar's assistant.

Since then she has become known for her tough love approach to the candidates and isn't afraid to call out poor performance in order to push them further.

What football club does Karren Brady run?

While working at Sport Newspapers for David Sullivan, where she became a director at the age of 20, Karren spotted an advert in the Financial Times for the sale of Birmingham City football club.

She persuaded Sullivan to buy the club and to let her run it, becoming managing director when she was 23.

Karren encountered sexism at the club - in one infamous incident, the first time she got on the team bus, a player apparently said: "I can see your tits from here".

Brady told him: "When I sell you to Crewe, you won't be able to see them from there will you?" and the player was sold immediately.

Since 2010, she has been Vice-Chairman at West Ham United.

The eighteenth series The Apprentice kicks on February 1, 2024 on BBC One and the iPlayer.

Lord Alan Sugar once again resides over the show, with the help of his aides Karren and Tim Campbell.

Fans will be treated to 12 brand new episodes, with the show set to run every Thursday at 9pm , until April 18, 2024.

Speaking about the latest batch of candidates, Karren told the BBC: "I think it's probably the most highly qualified set of candidates we've ever had.

"A pharmacist dentist, some already successful business owners.

"I think from that point of view, the standard is really very high, but with high standard and high achievers comes high ego!"
