Honey G hits out at ‘trolls’ and dreams of MOBO awards after becoming first X Factor finalist of 2016 to release single
The rapper said the deal she's made with Simon Cowell's company Syco has changed her life and spoke of hoping to one day win a MOBO award
FOR the last few weeks, millions of HONEY G “haters” around the country scoffed at the idea she would have any career outside of Butlins following this year’s X Factor.
And they grimaced when she claimed on live TV during Saturday night’s final that she had become the first finalist to secure a record deal with SIMON COWELL to release a single.
But now I can reveal the most unlikely rap fairy tale has indeed come true.
Earlier this week the former HR company boss, whose real name is Anna Gilford, recorded her first ever music video in North Weezy (of course).
She granted my cameras exclusive access and you can see what went down on .
In an exclusive interview behind-the-scenes, I wasn’t surprised to learn her confidence is higher than ever.
She said: “It's making my dreams come true. I'm ecstatic. I've never been this happy before in my life.
"X Factor has completely turned my life around. It's taken me from the gutter to this, a record deal offer. I'm so over the moon."
Speaking directly to her critics, she added: "All these trolls saying, 'Honey G shouldn't be doing this' – the game chose me. I'm not afraid to say that's what I deserved."
"One day I'm going to be somewhere on live television, I might have a MOBO and I might have a Mercury.
“I'll say: 'Big up everyone who said I wasn't gonna get a Mercury, big up everyone who said I wasn't gonna get a MOBO, big up everyone who said I couldn't have a No1 hit, big up everyone who said I couldn't be a platinum selling artist.’
"These people are wrong people. They're wrong in the stuff that they're saying."
Honey’s debut single – appropriately titled The Honey G Show – is released on December 23 and you can get a sneak peek of the G-enius lyrics to the right.
There’s a real personal motivation behind her desire to succeed too.
Honey explained: "One of the last things my grandmother said before she died a few years ago is: 'I really want you to pursue your music career.' And now I feel we've had justice.

"It's also helping me come to terms with her death. That took me a long long time. I actually said at the end of my performance in the final: RIP Georgette.
"Before she died I thought: 'I don't ever want to have any regrets'. I've just got to go out there and do it, grab this record deal and take it as far as I can take it."
Honey disclosed that a second single has already been written for her to be released next year – and she’s confident Cowell believes in her.
She said: "Simon Cowell, all the judges, the producers, they chose for me to perform on Saturday for a reason. They want me. I'm blessed. It was my honour to perform for them.
"I'm hoping we will start to think about the album soon. They haven't made any physical promises, but it doesn't mean there's not an album on the cards.
"I really do truly believe that there's magic between me and the team at Syco, like an energy, and I think that's why we've managed to create something that sounds so good."
REVEALED: THE HONEY G SHOW LYRICS IN FULL
Honey G's about to shut it down yeah
Ready to tear it up
When I was just a little girl growing up in Weezy
Listening to Snoop Dogg, Dre and Yeezy
Trying to make it to the stop
Mama told me never stop
Now I'm hip, now I'm hop
And I drop it like it's hot
Number one rap innovator
Tell 'em haters see ya later
I'm big in the game, so big in the game
And now I've got the whole world saying my name
When I say Honey, you say G
When I say Honey, you say G
When I say Honey, you say G
Honey, G
Honey, G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee
A spoon full of honey, a whole lot of G
That's right 'cause I'm sicker than the flu
But I'm bringing it back to life 'cause my rhymes are good for you
I'm big in the game, so big in the game
And now I've got the whole world saying my name
When I say Honey, you say G
When I say Honey, you say G
When I say Honey, you say G
Honey, G
Honey, G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G
All my honeys to the left, all my G's to the right
From the east to the west, let me hear you get loud tonight, loud tonight
