WHAT can't you miss on TV tonight? Our guide to the must-see shows...

NEW! Delicious, 9pm, Sky 1

Don’t be fooled into thinking this new four-parter starring Dawn French (left) is a comedy: it’s pretty bleak.

She plays Gina, a chef who was married to another chef, Leo (Iain Glen, right), before he left her and married Sam (Emilia Fox).

But it’s far from wedded bliss for Leo and Sam.

Add to this their unhappy offspring and Sheila Hancock as Leo’s caustic mother, and life doesn’t seem delicious at all.

In fact, Leo seems so unpleasant it’s hard to see how one woman, let alone two, would fall for him.

But it’s well made, and acts as an even better advert for Cornwall than Poldark – if that’s possible.

Plus, the episode ends on an interesting twist, which sets up a complete change in dynamic for the rest of the series.

If you don’t mind your drama a little on the sour side, this is a good bet.

NEW! Judi Dench: All The World’s Her Stage, 8pm, BBC2

Sitcoms, costume dramas, spy thrillers, Shakespeare – is there anything Judi Dench (above) hasn’t mastered?

We think not. A cavalcade of stars pay tribute to a great Dame who’s happy to laugh at and make fun of herself.

Which is just as well, given the stories Billy Connolly, Daniel Craig and Ian McKellen have to tell... Charming.

NEW! Jamie And Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast, 8pm, Channel 4

Jamie Oliver (right) and mate Jimmy Doherty (left) are back with their end-of-the-pier show from their Southend ‘caff’.

This series, TV Magazine’s columnist will champion community fridges and fresh-blood black pudding. But first, he shows John Bishop (centre) how to make “the best lasagne ever”. Expect a side order of belly laughs.

NEW! Noel’s Sell or Swap Live, 7pm, Channel 4

Those of us old enough will recall Noel Edmonds (above) and his Multi-Coloured Swap Shop on Saturday mornings.

Well, the bearded one is back with a twist on the old favourite, as he presides over a series of live auctions for eccentric, unwanted items – including the odd Christmas present.

It’s like he never left.

NEW! Modern Family, 8.30pm, Sky 1

It’s hard to believe this is the eighth series of the razor-sharp US sitcom, especially as the humour remains as fresh as ever.

In this smart opener, the Dunphy clan are in New York but caught in a lying game, while Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson, left) is accused of killing Cam’s (Eric Stonestreet, second left) grandma and Manny gets kidnapped.

Welcome back, guys.
