Shameless star Jody Latham signs for Celebrity Big Brother as he returns to limelight after being cleared of harassment
SHAMELESS star Jody Latham is the latest star to sign up for Celebrity Big Brother.
The 34-year-old – best known for playing Lip Gallagher in the Channel 4 drama – will return to the limelight to take part in the All Stars v New Stars show which kicks off in January.
The actor has had a difficult year after being accused of harassing ex Apprentice star Adam Hosker after a feud erupted over his ex-fiancee.
He was later cleared and is now keen to win back public support.
A source told The Sun Online: “Jody hasn’t had it easy this year and after a series of dramas he wants people to remember him for good things again.
“He was one of the nation’s most promising actors during his time on Shameless and he’s hoping he’ll be able to recreate that success again after going on CBB.”
Jody is no stranger to reality TV and appeared in Hell’s Kitchen back in 2009 alongside Grant Bovey - who appeared on the most recent series of CBB.
He ended up being fired following a series of arguments with his fellow contestants – particularly Grant and Channel 5 is hoping sparks will fly when he enters the house.
The source added: “Jody is known for being straight talking and he’s bound to find a least one person in the house annoying.
“Hopefully he’ll create some of the must needed fireworks on the show.”
The actor has not been on screen for some time and most recently went into business opening a cosmetic clinic in Manchester.
Jody is currently believed to be single following his split from Sarah Byrne in October last year following the birth of their child.
He met Sarah – who also appeared in Shameless – in 2008 during a wrap party for the show.
Jody’s career took off at the age of 12 when he appeared in youth theatre but he became a household name when he played the son of scrounger Frank Gallagher in Shameless from 2004 to 2008 .
He later appeared in EastEnders as pimp Rob Grayson in a sex exploitation storyline.
As well as a stint as a trainee chef in Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, he has also starred in ITV’s The Fixer.
The All Stars v New Stars show starts on January 3 and lasts for just 24 days.
Jody will be joined in the CBB All Stars v New Stars house by the best ever line up, with celebrities including Stephen Bear, Katie Price, Katie Hopkins, Perez Hilton and Lee Ryan - who are all rumoured to be going in.
