Sherrie Hewson hints at Coronation Street return and says her character could have an affair with Peter Barlow
Sherrie's character Maureen has been in Germany for five years but a raunchy return could be on the cards
SHERRIE Hewson has revealed she’d love to return to Coronation Street as Maureen Webster.
The Loose Women star even has some plotline ideas and thinks she could spice up the street by having an affair with bad-boy Peter Barlow.
Appearing on Lorraine on Thursday, Sherrie, 66, opened up about her plans for her comeback.
She said: “I loved it and I don’t think the character finished!
“She’s been in Germany for the last five years. Maureen could go back and be a strong woman.
“She could have an affair with Chris Gascoyne although he’s too young for me.”
During the interview, Sherrie reminded viewers that she had been married to Bill Webster – who owned the garage – and says she could go back and take over.
She added: “I could go back, throw Kevin Webster out of the garage and say ‘Go! This is mine now.’”

Sherrie may have to fight for Peter's heart however, as his new love interest - played by Jo-Anne Knowles - has moved to the cobbles.
And he's getting increasingly close to his ex Leanne Battersby in the ITV soap.
Sherrie left Loose Women in September to focus again on her acting career but she’s made it clear she’d love to go back.
Saying how much she missed her co-stars, Sherrie admitted she’d “love to go back in the New Year” but her hectic schedule might stand in her way.
Speaking about leaving the show previously, Sherrie said: “I’m in panto until January, there’s probably going to be a new series of Are You Being Served filming January to March, then March to August I fly out to Benidorm so realistically I can’t be here for Loose Women.
“So I thought, you know what, the best thing is to go, let a young one go into my seat and talk about all their rubbish like I did, and ITV are already talking to me about going back and doing some guest presenting.”
