David and Victoria Beckham win huge property battle at £12m Cotswolds mansion despite row with furious neighbours

DAVID and Victoria Beckham were last night given the go-ahead by planners to turn a garden store into THREE home offices at their £12million Cotswolds estate.

England and Man Utd legend David, 48, and fashion designer wife Victoria, 49, want to convert the loft of an existing outbuilding into three separate work stations.

And they want to add an external door and timber staircase and two conservation rooflights for natural lighting.

But they needed planning permission from the local council because their rural retreat comprising a cottage, barn and stables, is Grade II listed.

It is the latest in a string of planning applications including a new driveway, an extra garage, tennis court, treehouse, security hut, pond, and greenhouse with kitchen garden.

And their plans have finally been granted - with the council seeing no reason they can't go ahead with the build at their countryside estate.

Officials ruled the proposed development 'on-side' after there were no objections from neighbours to this specific application.

Two months ago, a similar application was slammed by a neighbour, who said: "Surely this is just a back-door way of trying to turn this barn into a residential property? It is a barn and should remain so.”

But clearly the council thought differently - and approved the plans.

It follows a row with neighbours over plans to build a temporary road.

A local resident wrote to the council over the plans, saying: "I believe, as do many in the surrounding area suggest, the applicants want a longer drive into their property, rather than the short drive from the lane they currently use to have access to their property, this may because the public have access all the way down this lane because it is a public road.

"I am always amazed at those who come to live in the countryside and then want to bring in suburbia, they are not content to live in a natural country environment."

David and Victoria often spend long weekends at their Cotswolds pile after snapping it up for £6million in 2017.

They pumped cash into renovating the Grade II listed barn conversion, which has a sauna, safari tent and football pitch.

The couple previously came under fire from locals after their plans to build a huge lake.

They ended up winning approval for the council, as long as they didn’t use motorised boats on it.

A rep for the Beckhams has been approached for comment by The Sun.
