He has now been slapped with a £192 fine, £110 costs, and a £76 court fee - as well as six penalty points.

PC Alexandra Day said: "I noticed that the rider of this vehicle was using a hand-held mobile device whilst driving.

"The device was being held in both their hands to the front, in front of themselves.

“I stopped the vehicle and spoke with the rider.

"I confirmed they weren’t making emergency contact to the 999 service.

"I pointed out the offence where they admitted to using their phone."

Laing was at the time filling in for Mollie King on her BBC Radio One show with Matt Edmondson.

He has often spoken about how he struggled to pass his car theory tests.

But in January Laing revealed on-air that he had passed the test - scoring 43/50 in the quiz and 55/70 in hazard perception.

It comes after Laing tied with knot with Sophie Habboo in a lavish wedding in Spain.
