Boyband star George Shelley bags role in comedy Benidorm
The popstar will be soaking up the sun in the hit ITV series
POPSTAR George Shelley made a cheeky check-in at The Solana after bagging a role in hit ITV comedy Benidorm.
The ex Union J band member switched singing for an acting stint set to air in the New Year.
After jetting off to the Spanish holiday hotspot for filming, George gushed: "It's a cameo.
"It involved a lot of laughing.
"The role is funny."
No more details have been released about his role in the rowdy show following the lives of the hotel's regular Brits abroad.
Filming for series nine started earlier this year and wrapped in July, yet it seems producers have made room for an extra take to accommodate George's special appearance in January
Perhaps he could play toyboy to saucy hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage, played by Sherrie Hewson, or strike up a friendship with cross-dresser Lesley (Tim Healy.)
His TV acting debut comes after his stint on ITV reality show I'm A Celeb, where he won the hearts of the nation and was voted through to the final.
Yet it seems singing remains his main focus.
After first finding fame with Union J on The X Factor in 2012 they racked up four Top 10 singles, including You Got It All, and two hit albums.
This Saturday, George will give a glimpse of his first solo work as he performs six unheard tracks at a intimate gig in west London.
Talking of the going it alone he told The Sun: "I write songs all the time from personal experience. A lot of fans have reached out to me about tough things they are going through, so I’ve written a song dedicated to them. It’s my way of helping. I’ve been open about my childhood and being bullied at school. If I’m honest, they can be honest with me and we can help each other."
