ACTOR Alan Thicke has died after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son, Carter.
Father to singer Robin Thicke, he was 69 years old.
Who was Alan Thicke?
Alan Thicke was a Canadian actor, songwriter and game and talk show host who enjoyed a long career. Thicke grew up in Ontario, Canada and started his career in Canadian game shows before moving into acting roles.
In 2013 he was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame.
What did Alan Thicke star in?
Alan was best known for his role as Jason Seaver, the father on the 1980s US TV series Growing Pains.
He starred more recently in the Netflix reboot, Fuller House and also made numerous guest and cameo appearances in sitcoms.
Thicke hosted his own talk show in Canada during the 1980s called The Alan Thicke Show and then later went on to do an American late-night talk show called, Thicke of the Night.
Also a composer, he wrote the theme tunes for popular sitcom Diff'rent Strokes as well as other game shows, including Wheel of Fortune.
In 2014 and 2015 he hosted a travelling dance show called Dancing Pros Live

Alan Thicke was married three times.
His first marriage was to Days of Our Lives actress Gloria Loring and they had two sons together, Brennan and Blurred Lines singer Robin.
His second wife was Miss World 1990, Gina Tolleson and together they had their son Carter before they divorced in 1999.
Alan married his third wife, Tanya Callau in 2005, and they remained married until his death.

Alan was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter when he suffered a heart attack.
He was taken to hospital in Burbank, California but later pronounced dead.
