EastEnders viewers left baffled by Phil Mitchell’s ever-changing make-up
Phil may be facing death, but viewers were left distracted by his streaky make-up
BEMUSED EastEnders fans were left questioning Phil Mitchell’s make-up tonight - because his jaundiced skin looked rather unrealistic.
Steve McFadden's character is battling liver disease caused by alcoholism and one of his side effects include yellow skin - which happens when the liver’s ability to break down toxins is impaired.
And while people are certainly sympathetic to Phil’s condition, they couldn’t help but raise eyebrows about the make-up used to achieve the jaundiced look, and have been quick to point out that it doesn’t look very realistic, with white patches around his ears and some streaks in his beard.
One fan quipped: “It's like the 50 shades of Phil Mitchell .. He's a different colour every day #eastenders”
Another noticed that some of the orange colouring was beginning to collect in his beard, stating: “#eastenders 😂😂even his beard is going yellow”
Some questioned if maybe the amount of fake tan piled on him made him suitable for a totally different show: “Is Phil suffering liver disease is he on #Strictly ? #Eastenders #SeriousQuestion”
Others thought the streaky colouring reminded them of a certain US President-elect.
One, Rock Lobster, tweeted: “Phil is looking positively Trump.
“All he needs is a guinea pig on his head. 😃 #EastEnders”
Some even suggested Phil should be relocating to Springfield remarking: “Is Phil Mr burns from the Simpsons #eastenders”
