Nude David Walliams hides his crotch behind a giant sticky bun to impress the Queen in a hilarious still from the Royal Variety Performance

Gary Barlow collapsed into a fit of laughter at the strange stunt

DAVID Walliams decided to give Gary Barlow and the rest of the Royal Variety Performance a bit of a shock - by stripping off his clothes and hiding his crotch behind some sticky buns.

The comedian was hosting the show for the second time this year when he tried out the stunt.

Clad in just a pearl necklace, clip-on earrings and tight nude-coloured pants, David decided to recreate that famous scene in the Calendar Girls.

His hairy chest and legs were on show as he held a silver stand of huge sticky buns in front of himself.

Gary looked at him in disbelief as the comedian sauntered onto the stage to surprise him and the cast of musical comedy calendar girls.

Last week David spoke to The Sun about hosting the Royal Variety show for the second time.

He admitted that it was only when he was told the line-up that he agreed to be the host.

David revealed: "“When I learnt that Barry Gibb from The Bee Gees was appearing, I immediately agreed. I’m a lifelong fan of his.”

The comedian added: "I remain absolutely starstruck whenever I meet one of my childhood heroes – it was the same when I first met the Chuckle Brothers on Comic Relief. Now I’m meeting Barry Gibb. It’s surreal. How has that happened?!"

Speaking about meeting royalty at his first presenting gig at the Royal Variety four years ago, he said: "I have met Prince Charles before – he’s great fun."

“In 2012 [when the Queen attended], I was standing in the line-up next to Girls Aloud, and I kept thinking: ‘Oh no, what are they going to say to the Queen?’

"You’re not allowed to ask Her Majesty any questions, and she doesn’t offer you any opinions because people might use that. To be honest, she seemed most pleased to be meeting Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsyth, Des O’Connor and Jimmy Tarbuck.

"They got the biggest cheer."

This year’s show was filmed at Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, West London, not only in front of royalty but an audience of over 3,000 guests.

He admitted: "You have to keep control of your nerves. But I’m glad I have been asked to host it again – there are a lot of great people who could do it. I wouldn’t want to be the person who did it once and was never asked back!"
