Inside Snow Patrol’s toxic split as Johnny McDaid branded a ‘snake’ by rocker’s wife in sweary rant
AFTER what appeared to be an amicable separation, relations between Snow Patrol and their two departing members have started to become remarkably frosty.
Drummer Jonny Quinn and bassist Paul Wilson last week announced they had quit, leaving Gary Lightbody, Johnny McDaid and to carry on without them.
And while Jonny and Paul have stayed quiet so far, Jonny’s wife Mariane has made her feelings more than clear — and has taken aim at McDaid.
When asked by a fan on Instagram what she thought of the news, Mariane revealed Jonny’s relationship with frontman Gary and Nathan was still good.
But of McDaid, she fired back: “The last f***er is a snake though.”
She also went on to post a statement online praising Gary and Nathan, but omitted McDaid from the message.

Mariane said: “I’m so incredibly proud of my husband and it’s with very mixed feelings Jonny is announcing his departure from the band.
“So many amazing times, so many incredible people and experiences. I couldn’t have dreamt it.
“Sad the reason for leaving is not the best, but excited about what lies ahead.
“I wish Gary and Nathan all the best in moving forward, hopefully you can keep it together.”

A source said the split came after tensions boiled over between the group, with Jonny and Paul deciding they no longer wanted to work with McDaid.” They added: “It became totally untenable for them to stay together.
“There is a bit of bad blood with Johnny as far as some of the band are concerned.
“But while none of them want to talk about it publicly at the moment, Mariane isn’t afraid to have a pop and say what she thinks.
“It’ll all come out in the wash.”
In a rant online, Mariane also branded Johnny, who is dating Friends star Courteney Cox, a “weird fan boy” in relation to his songwriting – which includes his work with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Pink and Robbie Williams.
Gary said the group would carry on working on their eighth studio album, the follow up to 2018’s Wilderness.
I can imagine that the first recording session is going to be a tad awkward.
J-Lo’s love song for her Ben
JENNIFER LOPEZ is to reaffirm her feelings for Ben Affleck by releasing a new track all about their love.
I can reveal she will drop Can’t Get Enough this month after a year of rocky romance rumours.
J-Lo sings: “All night, I can feel the passion in your eyes. I’m still in love with you.”
The superstar debuted the track privately last summer when she performed it for Ben during their wedding in the state of Georgia in the United States.
Taking her man by surprise, she pulled a chair into the middle of the dancefloor for him to sit on before starting to sing, backed by dancers. Only a snippet of the performance ever leaked online.
The couple, right, tied the knot in July 2022 after rekindling their romance two decades after calling it quits.
She previously told Zane Lowe on Apple Music: “I think, now that we’re older, we realise it’s much more clear, because even then when we felt that way, now we know.
“Now, we know. And there are no questions and there is no kind of like, ‘Well, let’s see how this goes’.
“Like, ‘Nope, it’s me and you. That’s it. All the way, till the end. That’s it. It’s going to be us’.”
NETFLIX star Jenna Ortega has denied claims she is dating Johnny Depp – because she says they have never even met.
The actress, the lead in hit series Wednesday, was reported to have been spotted on a date with The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, according to gossip site Deux Moi.
But she was left puzzled by the story.
She said: “This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh. I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone.”
A spokesperson for Johnny added: “Mr Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Miss Ortega.
"He has never met her or spoken to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be.”
That’s a relief. She could do ten times better than him.
UB40 were honoured with a star on the Music Walk of Fame on Camden High Street in North London yesterday as they announced a huge tour.
The group, in their 45th year since forming in their native Birmingham, will embark on The Hits Tour in 2024, kicking off at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on April 6.
Other big acts announcing major tours yesterday included Simple Minds, who will next year head out on their biggest global jaunt since 1985.
They will play shows in the UK and Ireland in March, with support from Del Amitri.
Sir Tom Jones has also extended his Ages & Stages tour, with extra arena shows in Nottingham, Birmingham, London, Glasgow and Manchester this December.
NO DRESS CODE FOR BEYONCE
SHE announced an all-silver dress code for her Renaissance World Tour shows in honour of her birthday month but Beyonce bucked her own trend.
The Break My Soul singer wore this eye-catching, multi-coloured catsuit during her latest show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Bey turned 42 yesterday and superfan Adele admitted she couldn’t wait to see the show but didn’t want to wear a metallic outfit.
On stage in Las Vegas at the weekend, she told the audience: “I like to get dressed up every weekend, and obviously this is her birthday show.
"So I was like, ‘I’m not going in silver’. Like, I love my girl, but I ain’t wearing silver. I don’t even own silver.”
But confessing to a change of heart, she added: “I was awake until, like, 3am the other night on Amazon buying glitter-ball clothes.
“She asked everyone to dress up, so I’m gonna look really cheap like a disco ball. It’s all from Amazon, and it’s arriving over the weekend while I’m here. God knows what I’m gonna look like.”
Make sure I get a picture, Adele . . .
CELEBS IN FLEE FOR ALL AT FESTIVAL
AMERICAN music festivals usually come with Instagram snaps from a horde of A-listers wearing very little in the sunshine.
But this is what some celebs looked like as they made their escape from Burning Man after the severe storm which turned the site in the Nevada desert into a mud bath.
Muse frontman Matt Bellamy and wife Elle Evans donned ponchos and glasses to flee the chaos on bikes after the ground became so wet and muddy vehicles were banned from going in or out.
And comedian Chris Rock and DJ DIPLO had to walk five miles across the desert until a fan gave them a lift in a pick-up truck.
