Farmer Adam meets his sheepdog trial idol but fans can’t seem to get over his name

COUNTRYFILE viewers were introduced to top sheepdog owner Dick Roper on Sunday night but it seems they were more interested in his name than his skills in the field.

After presenter Adam Henson introduced the top trainer on the show, some were in hysterics over the accidental innuendos that were made.

Adam met Dick to see if he could improve his handling skills and quickly fans joked about how he’d be getting a “dick masterclass”.

Later the famer’s impressive skills in the field had Adam complimenting him, saying: “That’s pretty impressive dick.”

It seems viewers found the whole item hilarious and they took to Twitter to joke about the innuendos.

It’s not the first time Countryfile bosses have made viewers laugh with an appearance by Dick.

In September, Anita Rani, Matt Baker and International Sheep Dog Society member Andy Jackman drop a host of raunchy double-entendres during a One Man and His Dog 40th anniversary special.

At one point former Strictly star Anita, 38, quipped: “Dick and his dogging could be tested to their limit.”

While Andy later told viewers: “Dick is known as lucky Dick” – which left One Show host Matt, 38, in hysterics.

And the local farm manager made references to “dogging” throughout the special episode, which saw shepherds and herding dogs from England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland competing against one another.

Early on in the episode Andy commented: “He’s done a very good job but unfortunately he should be dogging the two sheep not the three.”
It's not the first time innuendo on the show has made viewers laugh.

In October Joe Crowley met a farmer who housed Great Tits on his farm in Herefordshire.

Joe was speaking to Mike about his recent crop of apples which they make into cider.

He explained the perils of pests they have to deal with – including caterpillars and said they combated the problem by using bird boxes on the farm.

But when he mentioned there were two different breeds of tits nesting in some of the boxes, some viewers couldn’t handle it.

Other innuendos from Joe that had viewers crying with laugher included: “This is what it looks like when they’re having a go” and “Great tits in these boxes”.
