SLASHED

Christopher Biggins to receive ‘less than half’ his Celebrity Big Brother fee following axing for anti-Jewish slur

The actor got the boot from the reality TV show in the summer after making offensive remarks towards Katie Waissel

CHRISTOPHER Biggins’ Celebrity Big Brother fee has been slashed following the anti-Semitic remarks he made towards fellow housemate Katie Waissel.

The 67-year-old was a firm favourite to win the show before he was suddenly ejected from the house and it was initially alleged that he would be receiving none of his rumoured £100,000 fee.

Now however a show insider has told The Mirror that he WILL get paid, but receive “less than half” what was originally agreed.

“The production company were under no breach of contract by not honouring his full fee,” said a Channel 5 insider.

“He had flouted the show’s rules by making offensive comments and had to leave the process early.

“They have now agreed a figure, but it is nowhere near what was agreed before the series. His remarks were taken very seriously by show bosses.”

Biggins will eventually receive in the New Year as long as he makes no negative remarks about the show in the meantime.

In comments that were never aired, the actor made a concentration camp joke to former X Factor star Katie.

He told her: “You better be careful or they’ll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room.”

According to friends, the remarks made in August have “affected” his health.

“He has been deeply affected by what happened on Celebrity Big Brother.

“He’s a lovely, gentle man who just didn’t realise the impact of a comment made in haste, and he’s been paying for it ever since. It has really affected his health,” a pal said.

“He wants to close this chapter and move on.”

Yesterday the star announced that he is quitting panto after revealing that six weeks of shows left him exhausted.

The former CBB star, who played Widow Twankey at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham last Christmas, added that the shows “almost killed” him.

The 67-year-old was speaking at Nottingham City Business Club’s annual Christmas lunch, held at the Park Plaza Hotel when he revealed the news.

He said: “I’m taking a sabbatical because as much as I adored last year’s panto – which was really special for its 150th birthday celebration and broke box office records – it almost killed me.

“I had two shows a night for six weeks, with 13 costume changes in each show.

“We will have to wait and see but as you get older there’s more priorities in your life – like enjoying it.

“Going to the theatre at midday and not coming out again until 10pm, then going straight to bed is not much of a life for six weeks.”
