FEARS FOR SPEARS

Inside the troubled life of Britney Spears after divorce – with worrying posts & rumours of dating convicted criminal

STARING at the camera for a recent Instagram photo, Britney Spears defiantly warns: “F*** with me . . . I dare you.“

Two years into her escape from the shackles of a conservatorship which gave her dad control of her affairs, and just over a week since actor husband Sam Asghari filed for divorce, the troubled singer is isolated and angry.

The split is becoming more toxic by the day while attempts to patch things up with her family are in trouble.

And instead of being guided by those who know her best, Britney seemingly finds herself surrounded by paid employees and hangers-on.

This week the 41-year-old singer posted a video of a male guest licking her legs — and she is rumoured to be seeing a convicted criminal.

She has also posted a video of herself dancing topless and pole- dancing in a leopard print bikini.

The star has taken to making late-night trips to takeaway joints with just her security guards for company.

And fans are worried about Britney, who has made no secret of the fragile state of her mental health.

There have been reports in the US press that one of the reasons that Sam, 29, left his wife of 14 months is that she gave him a black eye and threw knives at the walls.

One source told The Sun that she had reduced her medication and started drinking alcohol since her father Jamie ended his 14-year-long control of her life.

‘Overcome anxiety and mood swings’

Understandably, it has been hard for mum-of-two Britney to find her feet after so long under the iron grip of a legal arrangement that even dictated whether she could get married or have another child.

The insider claimed: “Britney’s experience under the conservatorship has made her fearful of medicating.

“Sam pushed for her to return to a medication regime to overcome her anxiety and mood swings.

“When Sam pushed her on this it would lead to arguments. Britney would accuse him of being ‘like my father and wanting control’.”

Jamie was granted the right to look after Britney’s financial and personal affairs in 2008 after she was twice admitted to hospital for psychiatric assessments.

But on September 7, 2021, he filed notice that he wished to end his conservatorship following a powerful “Free Britney” campaign by fans.

Five days after a judge ended the conservatorship, the singer announced her engagement to fitness trainer Sam, who she met in 2016 while making a music video.

Having already gone through two costly divorces, an iron-clad prenuptial agreement was signed prior to the pair marrying in June last year.

Britney was determined to protect her £50million fortune and is said to have included a clause which prevents her estranged husband from making claims about anything she earned during their time together.

That would include the £11million she is set to make from the publication of her forthcoming memoir The Woman In Me in October.

But there are rumours that Sam will launch a legal case to get his hands on some of his ex’s money.

Britney has already hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, whose previous clients include Angelina Jolie and Kim Kardashian, to protect her interests.

To maintain some semblance of good relations, she is said to be paying the £8,000-a-month rent on a plush LA pad for Sam, who claimed in a 2021 magazine interview that he is so frugal that he lives on “lettuce and rice and coffee”.

They have also come to an agreement over their pets, with Sam getting their doberman Porsha and Britney the other four dogs, including new puppy Snow.

With Sam now gone, there is a risk other men could take advantage of the vulnerable star.

She was spotted driving to get a coffee with one mystery man in the passenger seat on Wednesday.

Five days ago Britney shared a video of four shirtless men holding her by her swimming pool and one of them licking her thigh.

In the post, she wrote that a friend had let her down so she “invited my fav boys over and played all night.”

There were also reports in the New York Post that Britney was cosying up to her former housekeeper Paul Richard Soliz.

The newspaper claimed Soliz, 37, has convictions including possession of a firearm, disturbing the peace and driving without a licence.

Britney has a history of mixing with the wrong type of men.

Second husband Kevin Federline, a backing singer who she was married to for three years, left his pregnant girlfriend shortly before starting his relationship with the singer.

And in 2008 a restraining order was granted against Britney’s once- close confidante Sam Lutfi, who tried to sue her for alleged lost earnings.

According to sources, Britney has few old friends or family around to advise her.

Her main sources of stability are her manager and lawyer.

Having accused her family of not providing support during her conservatorship battle, there were attempts to patch things up with her mum Lynne, 68.

In May, Britney wrote on Instagram: “My sweet mama showed up at my doorstep yesterday after three years.

‘She has long-term trauma from her dad’

“After being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed that we were able to try to make things right.”

But US entertainment website TMZ has since reported that Britney and her mum are estranged again.

In June the singer also revealed she had met sister Jamie Lynn, 32, on the set of a movie her sibling is filming, and is said to be meeting up with her brother Bryan, 46.

The mother-of-two is distant from her sons Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16.

They recently moved to Hawaii with their dad Kevin, who was awarded sole custody of the boys.

Having been estranged from their mum for a year, they last spoke to Britney a couple of weeks ago.

Then, last week, made it clear in an Instagram video how much she needed a shoulder to cry on following her break-up with Sam.

She said: “I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that.

"I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel, but for some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses.

“If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors. But that’s when I needed family the most.”

The comments offered an insight into the emotional strain Britney is under.

It revealed how she wanted the support of her family at times of mental stress, rather than having to rely on medical professionals for help.

According to one source, is seeking a reconciliation with her 71-year-old dad Jamie, who has suffered health problems in recent years.

But the insider told The Sun that the pop star is fearful her father could try to take control of her life again.

The business associate said: “Britney remains in fear of her dad once again forming some kind of conservatorship and having a say in her life.

“No matter what steps are taken, she has always said that she has long-term trauma from him after what happened.”

Britney is said to be particularly worried that Jamie will think that she cannot cope following the split from Sam.

The source added: “She is trying to assure him through her brother Bryan, who goes to her house now and again, that she is OK even with Sam walking out in the last month.”

The singer’s erratic behaviour over the past week is unlikely to reassure anyone that she is coping with the split.

Fans will be hoping that having found freedom, Britney can also find happiness.
