BLEARY-EYED Ben Shephard rocked up for work at the Good Morning Britain studio on less than AN HOUR sleep today.
The ITV presenter revealed he had spent the previous evening at The Mirror's Pride of Sport Awards, explaining his very late bed time.
He estimated he only managed 47 minutes kip before his early-morning alarm call - with co-host Kate Garraway adding he had fitted a haircut into that time.
Full of smiles, Ben said: "It was a busy hour!"
During GMB's entertainment segment, reporter Richard Arnold poked fun at his sleepiness and said: "He's still got his come to bed eyes on," to which Ben replied: "I've still got my need to go to bed eyes."
The lack of sleep didn't impact Ben's style, as he chose a trendy blue suit jacket and waistcoat for his morning on TV.
He matched his smart outfit with a purple tie and white shirt.
Fans took to Twitter to give him the thumbs-up as he fronted the two-and-a-half hour show.
One wrote: "You do well on 1hrs sleep...keep it up," while another added: "How do you look so fresh and awake so early in the morning when you have been out the night before?"
Meanwhile responding to a fan to ask how he managed to fuel his early mornings, Ben took to Twitter to add: "Mainline caffeine!!".
During some segments, he seemed to struggle to keep his eyes open.
Yet he showed he was still sharp when it came to making hilarious quips about Kate and her encounter with a giraffe.
After telling viewers how the world's tallest animals were verging on extinction, Kate surprised her fellow presenters by confessing: "I have fed a giraffe from my mouth.
"They have got incredibly long black tongues."
Explaining further, she said: "I was eating a lovely croissant and I put it in my mouth, and the giraffe came down and whipped it out.
"Taking food from me is a risk but even I didn't mess with a giraffe!"
Kate's comments left presenter pal Ben in stitches and he summed up their chat by saying: "You snogged a giraffe!"
Later in the show, the topic cropped up again.
As Kate explained there had been a worldwide drop in the population of the animals, Ben again quipped: "Is that because you have been snogging giraffes?"
