GMB’S Kate Garraway ‘snogged a giraffe’ while on holiday in Kenya

The bubbly TV presenter confessed the cheeky mammal stole her breakfast from her mouth

KATE Garraway revealed she came up close and VERY personal with a cheeky giraffe who stole her breakfast straight from her MOUTH while she was on holiday in Kenya.

Her confession led her Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard to claim she had "snogged" the jungle creature during her stay at Giraffe Manor.

After telling viewers how the world's tallest animals were verging on extinction, Kate surprised her fellow presenters by confessing: "I have fed a giraffe from my mouth.

"They have got incredibly long black tongues.";

Explaining further, she said: "I was eating a lovely croissant and I put it in my mouth, and the giraffe came down and whipped it out.

Kate's confession left her co-hosts in stitches

"Taking food from me is a risk but even I didn't mess with a giraffe!"

Kate's comments left presenter pal Ben in stitches and he summed up their chat by saying: "You snogged a giraffe!"

Later in the show, the topic cropped up again.

As Kate explained there had been a worldwide drop in the population of the animals, Ben again quipped: "Is that because you have been snogging giraffes?"

Another cheeky viewer added: "So I wake up and strangely feel jealous of a giraffe."

Kate revealed there was some video footage of the exact moment she came into contact with the giraffe.

As host Susanna Reid urged staff to root it out, a fan pleased on Twitter: "Please find that footage. Giraffes are the most amazing animals x"

There were fewer than 97,625 alive in 2015, down from up to 163,000 in 1985, due to habitat loss, illegal hunting and civil unrest in Africa.

Today we reported it has led to them being classed as vulnerable to extinction on the latest Red List of Threatened Species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

The assessment also revealed a worsening situation for African grey parrots, regularly kept as pets and with the ability to mimic human speech, which are now classed as endangered because of unsustainable trapping for trade and habitat loss.

IUCN director general Inger Anderson said: “Many species are slipping away before we can even describe them.

“This IUCN Red List update shows that the scale of the global extinction crisis may be even greater than we thought.”
