First Dates diner makes major mishap after calling star Fred Sirieix the wrong name

Pink-haired hopeful Tallulah made the gaff within seconds of starting her date with model Teddy

FANS OF First Dates's dishy maître d' Fred Sirieix were left mortified on Monday night when one unlucky in love hopeful accidentally called him Frank.

The evening got off to an awkward start quickly when 21-year-old singer/songwriter Tallulah made the slip-up shortly after starting her date with model Teddy.

Upon seeing the pink-haired beauty arrive at the restaurant, Fred commented to the camera that she "looked like a super hero", and Tallulah revealed she was looking for someone to "emotionally connect" with.

As Fred took her and Teddy to a booth, Tallulah bluntly said: "Thanks Frank.", causing him to reply bluntly "It's Fred."

Fans of the show were quick to pick up on the slip up, and flooded Twitter with comments about it.

Someone else added: "Calling Fred, Frank. Get in the bin. #firstdates"

However, despite the faux pas, the girls later eyed up the hunky host during their discussion, as Teddy announced: "He's really quite a handsome man though."

Tallulah agreed and said: "Oh yeah - I really want to set him up with my mum.

Teddy concluded: "If I was going for a male, I'd probably choose him."

The First Dates Twitter page later revealed that the pair carried on their date after leaving the restaurant, and partied 'to the early hours' together.

Fred has proven such a success with viewers that he will soon be fronting spin-off show, First Dates Hotel.

The show has been described as a cross between First Dates, where potential couples meet at a restaurant, and Love Island, where a group of single celebrities are let loose on an island together.

The 44-year-old French love guru exclusively told The Sun Online: “Yes, there are bedrooms. When you are a couple and you go to a hotel, there is that connotation, and the anticipation of what is to come is great.

After their date, the pair carried on partying until the early hours

"But it’s First Dates Hotel — remember our vision is to put people up and help them find love. That’s all we want to do!"

He continued: "It was more about giving them the chance to get to know each other over a longer period of time.

"So they meet on the terrace, they have a meal, then they can have breakfast the next day and have more opportunities to meet and get to know each other."

An air date is yet to be announced for the series.

Catch First Dates on Monday's at 10 on Channel 4.
