Carol McGiffin reveals devastating news that her little sister Tracy has been diagnosed with terminal cancer
The 56-year-old TV presenter was given the all-clear from the disease less than a year ago
CAROL McGiffin has revealed that her sister has been diagnosed with terminal cancer - less than a year after she was given the all-clear from the disease.
The 56-year-old presenter and reality star has spoken out about how she has helped her sister Tracy through treatment after finding a lump in her breast three months ago, but unfortunately, the cancer she has is incurable.
Talking to Best magazine alongside her sister, Carol said: "I don't think Tracy wants to know how long she has left, although the doctors could probably say. We're in uncharted water, but she's trying to be positive. We all are."
The former Loose Women presenter also revealed that her mum, Heather, also died of lung cancer thirteen years ago.
Tracy, 53, admitted that when she discovered the lump, dormant little sister syndrome reared its head as she feared she would appear like she was copying her big sister.
She said: "When I found a lump in my left breast this August, I actually thought 'Here we go. I'm copying her again'. How I wish that were true."
However, when she went to have it checked, Tracy found out that the lump was actually a secondary tumour and that her cancer had already spread throughout her body. So, unlike her sister, it was incurable.
She now has to undergo chemotherapy once every few weeks.
Despite this, she thinks that her diagnosis has helped her grow closer to her older sister.
She added: "I know that, for once in her life, my sister would have given anything for me to have copied her. But, despite the devastating news, and for as long as I have left, we have grown closer."
The pair have now set out to complete a bucket list Tracy created before she passes - one of which is to make sure they have a great Christmas.
Carol said: "Let's just say that my Christmas wish is for my sister to have the best time ever, and to really make the most of the time she has left, because, above all, I don't want her to have any regrets."
