Robbie Williams to ring in 2017 by hosting New Year’s Eve spectacular for the BBC
Megastar will cap off his golden year by performing in central London as the bell tolls midnight
BBC bosses have booked Robbie Williams as the star attraction for their New Year's Eve spectacular.
The 42-year-old megastar - who has just been awarded the BRIT Icon Award for his contribution to the music industry - will play out 2016 at Central Hall in Westminster, London before Big Ben rings in the new year.
The show, named Robbie Rocks Big Ben Live, will continue into the night for revellers to celebrate the start of a fresh beginning and the firework display will be choreographed to fit Robbie's performance.
In a statement announcing the show, Robbie said: "I can’t wait to party with London and the rest of the UK. Let’s start 2017 with a bang!”
The exclusive show will include tracks from his latest album, The Heavy Entertainment Show, as well as some classic Robbie tracks we've come to know and love.
Tickets are limited and will go on sale at 9am next Friday so make sure you grab yours quick!
Guy Freeman, BBC special events editor, said: "Robbie is the ultimate live showman and there will be no shortage of brilliant songs for us all to sing along with as we raise a glass to welcome in the New Year."
For those watching at home, the event will be presented by former Strictly star, Melvin Odoom.
Robbie is rounding off a stellar year thanks to the success of the Heavy Entertainment Show.
He also reunited for a one-off performance with his old Take That bandmates for a one off performance as they presented him with his BRIT Icon award.
Howard teased him on stage as he said: “Rob, whether you like it or not, you will always be a member of Take That.”
The former Take That star and She’s The One singer has been awarded the highest accolade of the prestigious awards committee- joining the likes of icons Elton John and the late David Bowie.
BRITs Icon Award is handed out to those who have made a standout and lasting impact on British music, which, after thirty years in the business, Robbie has certainly done.
The show came the same day Robbie announced a twenty-nine show European tour in 2017, starting in Manchester's Etihad Stadium on June 2.
Techno troupe Erasure have been confirmed for his support act for the tour which will cross a staggering eighteen different countries.
