LOVE Island star Montana Brown has revealed she took a relaxed approach to her pregnancy diet, deciding against certain NHS guidance.
The mum-of-one, who gave birth to her son Jude Isaiah O'Connor last month, opened up about her pregnancy in a new YouTube video.
Montana, 27, explained how she didn't want to create additional stress for herself by following a militant diet that deprived her of some of her favourite foods including raw fish, pâté, soft eggs and wine.
She said: "I've had half a glass of wine here and there. You're supposed to have your eggs really well done and I didn't do that.
"I've had raw fish. I love sushi so I've had raw fish. I think it's personal preference, but all those things my body is used to and I don't think they're harmful. I don't think having sashimi once a month is going to be harmful.
"I'm not a doctor, but I didn't want to stress myself out. Nothing bad is going to happen. I'm not eating raw fish and soft eggs every day, but if I want some in a nice restaurant I'll have it...
"I'm sure if I'd lost a baby in the past, or it had taken me double the time to get pregnant, it would be way more anxiety inducing, and I know I'm privileged to not have lost a baby prior to this one."
mums not to eat raw or partially cooked eggs, unless they are British Lion eggs or have the British Lion mark - in which case it is fine, to avoid the risk of salmonella and food poisoning.
Sushi is included on the allowed list providing the fish has been cooked through. Again, the risks of eating raw fish include food poisoning and the consumption of potentially harmful bacteria.
When it comes to alcohol, the NHS says: "If you're pregnant or planning to get pregnant, the safest approach is to not drink alcohol at all."
It says the consumption of alcohol can cause 'long-term harm to babies', however, it does not specify what constitutes a harmful quantity.
While pâté can have a harmful amount of vitamin A and potentially carry listeria - a bacterial illness that can be dangerous for pregnant women.
Montana, who found fame on Love Island in 2017, and fiancé Mark O'Connor revealed in December that they were expecting their first child.
The couple, went official with their relationship in October 2021, got engaged ahead of Jude's birth
