Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas’ restaurant goes bust with £300,000 debts ahead of stint on Strictly Come Dancing
WATERLOO Road and former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas’s restaurant business has gone bust with debts of almost £300,000.
The actor, who is in talks to join Strictly, resigned from the company last year.
He set up Manchester-based restaurant The Spinn in September 2019 but it was blighted by the Covid lockdowns.
His firm Gatley Bar and Grill Ltd was set up in the same year to handle the finances for the loss-making business and it now has debts of £293,996, including £71,423 owed to the taxman.
The business had employed 12 but it was boarded up last year, with locals wondering if it had closed for refurbishment or gone out of business.
Yesterday it was formally put into administration.
Adam, who finished third in 2016’s I’m A Celebrity, will be hoping to be a hit on the dancefloor and make a few quid once Strictly gets in to full swing.
He previously joked he wanted to experience the BBC show’s infamous curse.
Adam, 34, is one of a trio of famous siblings.
His twin brother is Love Island star Scott and brother Ryan, 39, was in Coronation Street.
A TV insider said: “After two decades on screen and, as one of the Thomas brothers, he instantly brings a huge fanbase. That’s what Strictly bosses love.
“Producers also see him as someone who can fill the young hunk role, which is important and often sees them pick soap stars.”
