Towie star Lydia Bright follows in footsteps of ex James ‘Arg’ Argent and signs up for The Jump
She will join former Made in Chelsea cast member Spencer Matthews, rugby’s Gareth Thomas and models Vogue Williams and Caprice on the slopes
THE Jump has witnessed more injuries in its three-year history than an entire series of Casualty.
But despite being branded the most dangerous show on telly, Channel 4’s adventurous take on the Winter Olympics can still rely on desperate reality stars risking life and limb — literally — to fill their celebrity quota.
I can reveal that Towie veteran LYDIA BRIGHT is the latest to sign up, following in the freezing footsteps of her ex JAMES ‘ARG’ ARGENT who was on the show this year.
She will join former Made in Chelsea cast member SPENCER MATTHEWS, rugby’s GARETH THOMAS and models VOGUE WILLIAMS and CAPRICE on the slopes.
To give you an idea of just how much The Jump relies on telly’s Z-listers, those five contestants alone have racked up 25 reality show credits between them.
RELATED STORIES
A source said: “It’s fair to say The Jump isn’t the most appealing show for celebs to appear on — especially if they have work lined up afterwards.
“Their talent list would be far more high-end otherwise.
“But there are some celebs who’ll do anything to increase their profile — even if it means a spell on crutches afterwards.”
Essex girl Lydia seemingly prepared for her stint on The Jump by getting injured on her previous reality show challenge.
She got a fish hook through her finger while appearing on BEAR GRYLLS’s show The Island in September.
But that’s nothing compared to the injuries which past contestants from The Jump have suffered on the show’s set in Austria.
In 2014 dancer OLA JORDAN sustained serious ligament damage while preparing for series two and had to quit the competition.
The third series earlier this year saw former Team GB swim star REBECCA ADLINGTON dislocate her shoulder, forcing her to leave the show.
Holby City actress TINA HOBLEY is still recovering from a dislocated elbow and a badly ruptured knee ligament which she suffered while training for the competition.
So to say the least it’s a daunting challenge for The Jump’s new intake, who also include former Liverpool striker ROBBIE FOWLER and England rugby World Cup-winning winger JASON ROBINSON.
Even so, in Lydia’s case, The Jump is far less scary than getting into an argument in the Sugar Hut with GEMMA COLLINS.
When does The Jump 2017 start?
Despite a number of celebrities picking up serious injuries, the dangerous yet exciting ski jumping sports competition 'The Jump' will be back on our screens soon.
Fans will be pleased to know that Davina McCall will be presenting the show again this year and it's set to return early next year.
Who is rumoured to take part?
Last year, Beth Tweddle suffered a serious neck injury after crashing while in training for one of the challenges - but that still hasn't deterred celebrities to sign up this year.
The Channel 4 show is set to be star-studded and four brave famous faces have already volunteered to take the plunge.
Lydia Bright
Lydia is no stranger to reality show danger, so the Essex girl should slip into The Jump with ease. While appearing on Bear Grylls’ show, The Island, she managed to injure herself by putting a fishing hook through her finger. Her ex fella, James ‘Arg’ Argent will also be able to give her a few tips gained from his stint on this year’s show.
Spencer Matthews
The former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews is no stranger to reality TV shows or putting himself to the test after appearing on both I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and The Bachelor.
Caprice Bourret
You'll probably recognise the next contestant from the front cover of over 250 magazines, including Vogue, Sports Illustrated, GQ and Maxim,
Caprice Bourret has had a long spanning and successful modelling career and now she's set to hit the slopes to try conquer the catwalk of the mountain.
Jason Robinson
After Ben Cohen's success last year, Rugby Union and Rugby League star Jason Robinson has decided to join Spencer and Caprice in the snowier climbs.
The World Cup winning England star will be hoping to emulate his sporting prowess on the skis as he goes up against the other celebrities.
Gareth Thomas
The Welsh rugby hero Gareth Thomas will be competing again with his English rival but this time it'll be on the slopes instead of the rugby pitch.
Until recently Gareth was the most capped player for his country and he has shown his talent off the pitch too after appearing on ITV's Dancing on Ice and has taken part in Celebrity Big Brother.
What time is The Jump on?
Last year The Jump was aired Sundays at 7.30pm on Channel 4 so it's probable that they'll keep the same format.
