PETROLHEAD stars Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May hope to make millions from a “Facebook for car fans” site they will launch today.

The Grand Tour trio are in talks with celebs such as Ewan McGregor to join the website and app.

Fans signing up to “tribes” — led by the ex-Top Gear stars and other big names including celebs and racing drivers — can watch videos, read articles and interact.

Clarkson’s group is named “Alfa Male” and May’s “James May’s Carbolics”. A source said: “All three stand to make a fortune if Drive Tribe is a success, so they are taking it incredibly seriously.

“They have invested huge sums in it. Having a Hollywood A-lister like Ewan on board would be a huge coup.

“The aim is for Drive Tribe to be the top online resource for car fans worldwide.”

The TV trio founded the site with tech entrepreneur Ernesto Schmitt, who is CEO.

It follows the launch of their new show The Grand Tour on streaming TV service Amazon Prime.
