In a shock twist, those close to Becky said they were baffled about their alleged failure to respond.

A source said: “Becky’s team can’t understand why Coleen’s team have time to release press releases but did not respond to the legal deadline for the reply to costs.

“They sent questions about certain parts of the bill but they have still not received an answer.

“Becky wants a swift resolution to this so she can move on and thinks Coleen’s team are dragging their heels.”

The Sun first revealed how Becky was angered by the £1.8million bill issued to her in April from Coleen.

Those close to Becky said they believed some of the costs appeared to have been inflated.

Coleen’s team have disputed this. They say costs they had billed were perfectly ordinary.

In a bombshell statement, Coleen also revealed how she had given Becky extra time to pay her the £800,000 ordered by the court after she struggled to pay.

They told The Sun yesterday: “Although the Court had ordered Mrs Vardy to pay £800,000 to Mrs Rooney by no later than 15 November 2022, instead, Mrs Vardy advised that she would need more time to raise that amount of money.

“Mrs Vardy asked Mrs Rooney to grant her substantially more time to raise the necessary cash.”

The statement continued: “Mrs Rooney chose to allow Mrs Vardy the extra time to raise the money, as Mrs Vardy had requested.

“Although it was open to Mrs Rooney to contemplate enforcement action against Mrs Vardy, such as instructing bailiffs or even pursuing bankruptcy, Mrs Rooney declined to do so and allowed her extra time to pay.”

Coleen’s team also hit back at Becky’s fury over the £1.8million costs bill issued to her following the trial.

The Sun told yesterday how Becky had declared “war” over some of the figures, which her team said appeared to have been inflated.

However Coleen’s team have said she repeatedly tried to stop the court case going ahead and that by pursuing with her libel claim – Becky brought on the action herself.

Coleen’s team added: “From the outset of this case, Mrs Rooney has said publicly that the case should not have proceeded and that money allocated for legal costs should be given to charity or put to some better use.

“Mrs Rooney made many attempts to agree settlement with Mrs Vardy.”
