Families of I’m A Celebrity campmates accused of lowering the tone of posh hotel Palazzo Versace after pigging out on McDonald’s
FRIENDS and family of the jungle campmates have been accused of lowering the tone of the famous Palazzo Versace hotel by pigging out on McDonalds.
Guests at the five star hotel, where suites can cost more than £1,500 a night, have been shocked by the sight of the ITV contestants’ loved ones coming and going with fast food.
One early offender was property developer Tom Mair, the boyfriend of Olympian Sam Quek, who arrived at the hotel on Australia’s Gold Coast last week.
On his first night in the £160m hotel, the design of which was overseen by Milan-based fashion house Versace, Tom wasted no time in going to the fast food restaurant located next door.
He was seen proudly carrying the greasy food as he wandered through the lobby on the evening he arrived, waving it at Ola Jordan’s husband James who was sat in the hotel bar drinking with pals.
A hotel source said: “There’s been a few instances of this happening.
“Some people pay thousands to stay here. So there have been raised eyebrows at the sight of their fellow guests lugging bags of smelly fast food up to their rooms given the array of delights on offer.”
It is believed that the friends and family, who all arrived last week, are given a room only and no budget for food or drink by ITV.

The source added: “When you consider that a coffee at the Versace will set you back £4.80, maybe a Happy Meal isn’t a bad shout.
“A room at one of the finest hotels in the world and being flown out to Australia for two weeks isn’t the worst gig in the world though. It’s not unreasonable to expect them to sort their own dinner.”
