Ed Balls crowned ‘the people’s champion’ after failing to impress the judges again on Strictly Come Dancing

The former politician hit the bottom of the leaderboard again - amid speculation that his time may be up on the show

YOU can say what you want about Ed Balls - but you certainly can't knock him for trying!

The former politician tried on his modelling hat for his latest performance on Strictly Come Dancing as he performed a tango to the Rolling Stones classic I Can't Get No Satisfaction.

In a bid to finally win over the judges, at one point he produced a rose and handed it to his harshest critic - a bemused Craig Revel Horwood.

He then channelled his inner Mick Jagger and shook his hips alongside his long-suffering sidekick Katya Jones.

While the crowd were left entertained, the judges still put him at the bottom of the scoreboard once again - handing him only 23 points for his performance.

Craig thanked the star for the rose but said it didn't work, giving him a four but telling him: "You're committed."

He then couldn't let the compliment lie and added: "...and you should BE [committed] after that."

Darcey Bussell tried to sweeten the situation, awarding him a six and telling him that he "lost focus" during the show.

Head judge Len Goodman declared him The People's Champion for giving it his all every week, an apparent nod to how well the audience at home receives him.

Ed's poses left him being compared to Derek Zoolander - the vain model made famous by Ben Stiller

Bruno Tonioli also compared him to Ben Stiller's vain model character Zoolander - leaving him giving the iconic Blue Steel pose online shortly after he left the stage.

While the pair remained positive, unfortunately they didn't fare any better in the Cha Cha Challenge against the other five remaining couples - leaving them in desperate need of the public vote if he is to remain in the competition for another week.

Catch Strictly Come Dancing, Saturdays and Sundays on BBC1.
