Nicki Minaj reveals huge new collaboration with 90s band for Barbie movie soundtrack
LIFE in plastic really is fantastic for cheesy Europop group Aqua.
They have landed a ridiculous collaboration with Nicki Minaj on the upcoming Barbie movie soundtrack.
Their record label was unsuccessfully sued by Barbie toymaker Mattel Inc for trademark infringement following the release of their 1997 No1 single Barbie Girl.
Now their track has been sampled on new song Barbie World, which will be performed by Nicki and rising star Ice Spice, who has just bagged a collaboration with Taylor Swift this week, too.
Also on the soundtrack is Dua Lipa, with single Dance The Night, out today.
The Barbie album will be out on July 21 and features Lizzo, Charli XCX, Tame Impala, Haim, Ava Max, Gayle, Khalid and The Kid Laroi.
But the highlight is expected to be the film’s star Ryan Gosling's solo number titled I’m Just Ken.
Bastille frontman Dan Smith's contributions didn’t make the cut though.
He tweeted: “I wrote a couple of songs for the Barbie film (that they didn’t use), but it looks incredible.” Fingers crossed for a sequel, eh Dan?
