Emmerdale’s Joanie Dingle schemes her way to redundancy but will she frame Belle for the decision?
The former factory worker has found the perfect plan to get husband Zak Dingle out of Emmerdale for good
EMMERDALE's Joanie Dingle is set to become the newest soap bitch around.
After falling in love with Zak Dingle and causing the breakdown of his marriage to wife Lisa, Joanie's been at the receiving end of quite a lot of Dingle hate in the village and it seems now she's ready to escape.
With the factory losing one of its biggest orders and needing to make cutbacks, boss Jai Sharma gives the workers the option of zero hours contracts, but when that falls flat, he offers another solution - redundancies.
Telling the workers that they can play being boss for once and decide between themselves who is to go, he forces them into a vote to make the decision.
But with Belle Dingle, not one of Joanie's biggest fans, on her first day back since having her breakdown, it doesn't look like Joanie would survive.
As the anonymous votes pour in, it becomes clear the factory workers have banded together to choose Jai for the chop.
But when the last card is marked for Joanie, she decides to seemingly fall on her sword to save everyone else's jobs.
"It's OK, I resign," she said, slamming her hat down and making her way out of the factory.
"I'm going. There will be no new contracts, I'm falling on my sword so you can't do that to them. So come on, pay me what you owe me, I'm off to the pub."
But Joanie couldn't resist leaving the factory without putting Jai in his place.
She said: "It's my decision and it's final. I'm not for turning and do you know, I used to scrub out Portaloos at Glastonbury.
"I tell you there's not enough brass in the world for that but it's still preferable to working for a sly, manipulative ego-maniac like you."
And with that she stormed out of the factory as the other girls applauded and went straight to the pub where the truth was revealed.
Joanie decided that the redundancy was the perfect excuse to get husband Zak to leave Emmerdale and his family behind and move to Leeds.
"Someone wanted you gone and I want to know who and why?" said Zak as Joanie inadvertently revealed it was her who wrote her name down as she brandished the distinctive red pen she used.
But what is Joanie's plan? Why does she want Zak to leave Emmerdale?
