US music superstar shocks drinkers at a London pub as he plays hit song to astonished fans

AN AMERICAN rockstar delighted fans at a London pub when he jumped on stage to perform an iconic hit.

Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong, 51, looked completely different from his pop-punk days with bright blonde curly hair in contrast to his black locks of old.

Yet he still left UK group Borderline Toxic stunned when he asked to perform one of Green Day’s tracks with them during their gig at a London boozer.

Billie ended up joining the band for a rendition of track Basket Case – which proved a sure-fire hit for guests at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store in Islington.

Borderline Toxic’s lead singer Kerry Glass told : “Eleven-year-old me panicked.

“I think I did three circles just running around the stage until he [Billie] was like, ‘Come on, sing with me’.

“It took a minute to settle.

“And then I was like, ‘You know, I’m going to enjoy every single second of this’.”

Green Day have been out of the spotlight of late, since they hit back at claims they failed to speak out following the death of an acrobat at the Mad Cool festival.

Meanwhile back in 2017, frontman Billie revealed the band was “punched really hard” when Republican Donald Trump was elected to the White House.

The band were in Europe when the American presidential election results came in and he admitted that Trump being elected came as a shock.

He also exclusively opened up to The Sun about the band’s huge touring following, and said: “However large the shows have got, I’ve never had a problem with it.

“From the very start all we wanted to do was play fun gigs and play records. And it’s been pretty much the same ever since.

“Being in a band is like being in a gang. Not like we are some tough guys, but we found something in each other and it is music. And that’s why we are still here playing our best.”

Additionally the band told how their latest music excites them “like the best sex and drugs.”
