She performed a mash up of Missy Elliott's hit Get Ur Freak On and Work It before chanting 'I say save, you say... me' , while Ryan performed Ed Sheeran’s Lego House on his guitar.

Taking to Twitter to vent their anger, viewers complained that talent was being sent home over Honey – who many believe is a fake act.

One person wrote: “@xfactor if you honestly think HoneyG has talent then it's time to call an end to this show, what a disgrace 😡😡😡😡.”

While another tweeted: “Absolute disgrace, somebody with real talent goes home while that joke Honey G stays. “

And someone else added: "Judges should be ashamed won't watch X factor again."

Some have even gone as far as to suggest that show must be fixed for Honey to get to the final.

“X factor is such a joke, honey G over Ryan ??? Clearly fixed,” tweeted one this evening.

Another viewer tweeted: “ Honey G getting through doesn't convince you that X Factor is fixed, you're deluded.”

And a further person remarked: “X factor is a joke honey g should be out Ryan was away better sing then her. X factor is fixed if she is still in 😡😡😡”

Following the acts' performances this evening, it was up to Simon to give his verdict first.

Looking rather confused he said: “That was bizarre. Look, Ryan you were my wildcard pick and I think what you have done has been incredible. Honey, it wasn’t as good as it sounded in the studio.”

Really hesitating, he continued: “I think this should go to deadlock. For me, the one who felt they wanted to stay in more was Honey G, so will send home Ryan.”

It was then Sharon’s – who is Honey’s mentor – turn and she predictably said: “You know who I am going to say, you deserve to stay. Ryan I am sorry I am sending you home.”

Nicole picked Ryan, who is in her category, telling Dermot: “Ryan I know it felt like a rocky start. The act I am sending home is Honey G .”

But it was Louis who put the nail in the coffin, saying: “It was a really good sing off but the name of the act I am sending home is Ryan.”

Speaking following the news Ryan – who has been in the bottom two on a number of occasions- said: “The highlight’s been the whole thing just being able to be here just wow I’m so glad to have come sixth in the show

“Thank you to everyone on this show because you changed my life.

“I hope Emily goes on and wins it now.”

Meanwhile, Ryan opened the show on Saturday evening with 'Jailhouse Rock' and Louis Walsh was full of criticism for him, insisting he would never be better than fellow contestant Matt Terry.

He said: "There is a guy on this show called Matt who will always be better than you."

However, Simon was more positive, adding: "I think this was your best performance of the whole show. It was the very first time you actually looked like you had fun."

Honey's performance received good comments from Simon Cowell but on Sunday night's show, he admitted her performance wasn't as good when he watched it back.

Speaking on Saturday, he told her: "You are infectious; every time you put on a show. Is it the best thing I’ve heard? No. Do I look forward to you coming back? Yes. It’s time to rip up the rulebook."

Whilst Nicole Scherzinger pondered: "I love the energy. Towards the end, I started to wonder if I’m seeing the same thing week on week."

The X Factor will return next weekend where the remaining contestants will sing songs to fit the 'Louis Loves' theme.
