RYAN Lawrie has admitted he would choose to win the X Factor over his girlfriend Emily Middlemas if given the choice.

The star was cornered in his opening video ahead of tonight's performance and awkwardly asked who he would choose - before he revealed his dream would be to come out on top.

Ryan and Emily have remained joined at the hip throughout the competition so far, sharing their support for each other as they progress towards the final.

But asked who he would want to win out of him and stunning singer Emily tonight, Ryan laughed and said "myself."

"I would want either of us to win, but of course I want to win, so I would say myself," he revealed.

Fans were quick to respond, with one writing: "Ryan was just asked if he'd prefer to win X Factor himself, or if he'd prefer Emily to win? Amazing."

And one even added: "I hope Emily laughs when Ryan gets voted off before her now!"

While another added: "X Factor: who would you want to win X Factor you or Emily Ryan: *fake laugh* that's a hard question.................ME."

Meanwhile one added: "Ryan not even hesitating in saying he'd rather win the show than Emily!"

And it comes after Emily insisted she wouldn't stop her relationship with Ryan if she were to win the show.

She said: “There’s no way I would break up with Ryan to focus on music if I won. Whatever happens on the show we will make it work.”

Emily, 18, added: “My dad has built a little studio in the house for me. “The plan is for me and Ryan to get in there, write songs and produce.”

The cute Scottish couple have been in a relationship for the past eight months and are said to be “besotted.”
