Emmerdale SPOILER: Actress Gillian Kearney says killer nurse Emma is close to confessing
![Emma insists she’ll be fine for the inquest, but once alone her mask slips. Wracked with guilt, she shows up at the inquest and promises her boys answers](http://mcb777.site/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/24_11_emmerdale_1st_ep_17.jpg?crop=35px%2C68px%2C1124px%2C749px&resize=620%2C413)
SHE may have dodged being identified by poor Ashley, but as the day of the inquest into James’ death approaches, it’s clear that Emma’s guilt is getting the better of her as she begins to self-medicate.
“She’s really not taking it well,” says Gillian Kearney, who plays the killer nurse.
“She’s been taking sleeping tablets and is becoming quite addicted to them. She even takes them from Dr Cavanagh when he’s not looking and steals a book of prescription leaflets so she can write out her own.”
The combination of losing her sons if she’s caught and being responsible for James’ death is pushing her into a downward spiral.
“It’s genuine grief for James,” says Gillian. “She did love him too much and that’s how she ended up in the state she was on the night he died.”
All too soon, the inquest is upon her.
Emma promises her boys that they’ll get answers but, as she takes to the stand, are they about to listen to the last thing in the world they want to hear?
“Emma is definitely very close to confessing,” says Gillian.
“She’s a ticking time bomb. You never really know when that moment is going to come, though. She wasn’t even going to go to the inquest at first but then she has a talk with Harriet at the grave side and she realises that the truth will always come out no matter what she does.”
The all-important question is: is it about to come out a lot sooner than she’d imagined?
Meanwhile...
FRANK’s elf scare!
He’s done his time and even managed to get things straightened out with his two daughters, but whether Frank can ever entirely shake off the misdeeds of his past remains to be seen.

After posing as a reporter and getting information out of Tracy that he can use against Frank, Bobby tries to blackmail him. And when that doesn’t work, he beats him up.
Joanie gets the sack
What Belle needs now that she’s back home is for life to be as peaceful and calm as possible but, what with Zak’s antics and Joanie sticking her nose in, there’s precious little chance of that, especially when Belle realises that Joanie has found her diary.
The next day at the factory there’s more antagonism as Jai and Priya consider zero-hour contracts.
Jai suggests they should all go to the ballot box over who should take redundancy.
When the vote is counted, every slip has his name on it – except for one which says ‘Joanie’.
Zak is furious when Joanie gets the sack but there’s a surprise in store when the culprit is unmasked…
