Grand Tour wins rave reviews as viewers declare the show is better than Top Gear
THE Grand Tour debuted last night to rave reviews as viewers branded the show "better than Top Gear".
The new series starring Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond went live at midnight and fans flocked to Twitter to gush about the first episode.
The series has cost an estimated £160 million, and the first episode with packed with fast cars and explosive action sequences.
The Grand Tour is believed to be the most expensive in TV history.
Fans were amazed by the big budgets sequences, but they were also thrilled with the banter and onscreen antics of the three hosts.
One wrote: "Top Gear is dead. Long live The Grand Tour."
Another added: "LESS THAN TEN MIN INTO THE FIRST EP OR THE GRAND TOUR AND ITS ALREADY SO PREFECT..."
In a later tweet, a viewer added: "The grand tour was absolutely amazing can't wait for next episode."
One simply wrote: "Grand Tour is so f**king amazing."
Many also sent messages to three hosts to congratulate them on a stunning first episode.
One tweeted: "@JeremyClarkson @RichardHammond @MrJamesMay Sat watching Grand Tour Epic!
"Well Done chaps, we've missed you !! #superb."
Another added: "So @JeremyClarkson @RichardHammond @MrJamesMay knocked it out of the park..."
Celebrity fans have also been tweeting about the show, with This Morning host Phillip Schofield among those who stayed up late to watch.
He posted: "Watching right now!! So long in the delivery but SO worth it! There's money dripping from the screen & the boys are having a ball!! 😬😬#CARS."
