THE Missing viewers are ALREADY craving their next fix of the BBC show after tonight's "totally compelling" cliffhanger saw dying detective Julien Baptiste edge closer to discovering the truth about Alice Walker's murder.
They took to Twitter in their droves to gush about the episode's final scenes, which saw the Frenchman leave hospital to confront the butcher's wife about the ordeal.
After she brandished a knife at him she promised: "I will tell you what I know," before the credits rolled.
As the screen went black fans uploaded their emotion-packed messages on social media, with one posting: "The Missing is so totally compelling. I just can't wait until next week to find out what the real story is!"
Another gushed: "OMG every week another cliff hanger," with another echoing her views and writing: "OMG - what just happened, another twist. Didn't see that coming!."
One moaned: "A week is too long to wait for the next episode of the missing."
Another added: "Omg why isn't the missing on every night !!!!!!! Roll on next wed !!" while one posted: "My sanity lies in Baptiste staying alive to find out wtf happened."
Others took on Baptiste's role and gave themselves a high-five after the butcher's other half had teased she knew information relating to Alice's whereabouts.
Viewers have been left equally confused by the twisting drama as ‘Alice’ – who may not actually be Alice – had her brother lock her in the garden shed before setting herself alight.
One wrote: "Knew the butcher's wife had been a bit quiet for a couple of weeks! Still none the wiser though."
Another added: "KNEW the butcher's wife was involved!! Ker-Ching!!"
