Who is David Blaine?

Born in Brooklyn, New York, David is a 47-year-old American magician, illusionist and endurance artist.

Blaine started his rise to fame promoting a back to basics form of street magic.

At first his family and friends were his only audience, but that was soon widened to high class restaurants where he showed off his card skills to intrigued customers before being hired for private gigs.

In 1997, his first TV special David Blaine: Street Magic aired with David's laid back demeanour hiding a skill that would often shock unsuspecting participants to the core.

What is David Blaine's net worth?

David has made millions from stunts such as being buried in ice.

He is said to be worth nearly £10 million.

This is down to his tours and TV shows.

What are his most famous stunts?

Visually Blaine's endurance tests are always a sight to behold and perhaps what he's best known for.

In 2003, the magic man was in the UK and decided to spend his time in a perspex box suspended from a crane near Tower Bridge.

And if that wasn't bad enough, he spent the 44 days without food and only water feed to him through a tube.

He survived, but suffered minor organ failure as a result of the task.

Blaine tackled his very first public endurance feat in 1999 and chose to be buried underground in a glass coffin underneath a water-filled tank.

He survived on nothing but liquids for seven days and nights.

In 2010, in a dangerous stunt the star managed to catch a bullet fired from a rifle - in his mouth.

In his latest show he repeats the feat, although this time Blaine fires the bullet himself.

Incredible footage shows the moment David Blaine soared above the desert holding on to a bunch of 52 helium balloons in a stunt that looked straight out of the film Up.

Blaine was strapped in with a harness as he clutched the balloons and exceeded his projected altitude of 18,000 feet during the "Ascension" stunt.

Blaine returned to solid ground in the desert after his impressive stunt was a success.

What were the rape allegations made against David Blaine

Blaine was cleared of raping a British model in a London flat, The Sun Online revealed in September 2018.

The US star had been accused of attacking Natasha Prince in 2004, months after her 21st birthday.

Ms Prince came forward with the claims in 2016, and they were strenuously denied by the illusionist, who claimed they had "consensual" sex.

Scotland Yard launched an investigation after Ms Prince, who now works as an art dealer in New York, reported the allegations at Kensington police station.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed on September 17, 2018, that detectives interviewed Mr Blaine under caution - and have decided to take no further action.

Another woman claimed the magician exposed himself and masturbated in front of her during an interview.

Scotland Yard confirmed: "The Metropolitan Police Service received an allegation of sexual assault on Monday, 23 October 2017.

"The offence is reported to have happened against a woman in New York between May and June 1997.

Specialist officers are supporting the victim."

Blaine has not made a comment on the latest claim but his lawyer issued this statement after the first allegation of rape against him: “My client vehemently denies that he raped or sexually assaulted any woman, ever, and he specifically denies raping a woman in 2004.

“If, in fact, there is any police investigation, my client will fully co-operate because he has nothing to hide.”

In April 2019, US reports claimed Blaine was being investigated over alleged sex attacks on at least two women.

The victim claimed Blaine sexually assaulted her in his Manhattan apartment in 1998.

He has not been charged.
