MARRIED At First Sight viewers were left in shock during tonight's finale as three of the couples decided to split up.
Initially all four of the couples taking part in the process said they wanted to stay together when quizzed by the experts five weeks after they tied the knot.
But five months on and things are very different and just Adam and Caroline have managed to make things work.
Just one week after the Sun Online revealed that Clark and Melissa were having major issues, they confirmed on the show that they were taking time apart.
The pair reached their first stumbling block when Melissa started a new job outside of London.
Despite declaring that he ‘loved’ Melissa, Clark struggled to make a decision about moving.
Talking to his mate, he revealed: “It is starting to become a little more real. Is this really the right thing to do? Have I made a mistake? In layman’s teams it’s made me s**t my pants a little bit. I am at breaking point. It’s so much stress, if it was any other situation, honestly, I probably would have jumped shipped.
And five months on and the move to Milton Keynes did not work out - and the pair decided it was best to go their separate ways and spend some time apart.
First to split was Steve and Lucie - who decided during their consultation with the experts to try living apart.
Days later they met and Lucie arrived without her wedding ring - revealing she thought they were more like friends.
Prior to announcing their decision viewers watched as the couple – who had been scientifically matched – struggled to jell.
Speaking about their lack of relationship Steve, 31, said: “There is a little spark but no fireworks. Being married to Lucie is not what I expected.”
He later told her that he felt like they were more like friends than two people in a relationship – while she corrected him telling him they were in fact man in wife.
Adam and Sara were the first couple to face the experts and revealed that after five weeks of marriage they would be staying together.
But after Sara moved in things came to a grinding halt and the seemingly well matched couple decided to split.
Meanwhile Clark and Melissa weren’t the only ones to have location difficulties – Adam and Caroline also struggled to decide where to live.
However the couple - who viewers weren't so sure about - got over their issues and decided to try and make their marriage work.
Delighted Caroline said: “The expert s have done a really good job. I think they will be on our Christmas list forever.”
Five months on and the pair have announced a very exciting addition to their family... a pet rabbit.
Following the show viewers took to Twitter to express their shock and upset that it didn't work out for so many of them.
One person wrote: “#MarriedAtFirstSight Melissa and Clark was such a shock. Not so shocked about the other two couples Adam and Sara, Wallace and Moonface.”
While another tweeted: “First brexit. Then Trump. Now Clark and Melissa. Have we not reached the bottom yet??! #MarriedAtFirstSight 😭😭😭”
And someone else added: “If Melissa and Clark can't make it, what hope is there? #MarriedAtFirstSight.”
