She told The Sun exclusively that she has battled drug problems in the past after taking cocaine, ecstasy and magic mushrooms.

The revelations shocked fans, and many have called on show bosses to boot her from the programme.

However, she has remained in the line-up and activists are concerned that keeping her in the show may glamorise drug use for the millions of youngsters who watch the show.

They are now urging ITV bosses to move The X Factor to a later time slot.

A representative for Media-Watch UK told The Sun Online exclusively: "It doesn’t help parents do their job when a contestant taking part in a programme that is aired during a peak family viewing slot...

"And aimed at family audiences, admits in a national newspaper to taking drugs, including Class A ones.

"Parents and families need to be assured that broadcasters will be responsible in their scheduling of pre-watershed content...

"It is ultimately for Ofcom to decide whether there has been any breach of its code in this instance...

"But we would like to see broadcasters acknowledge the wider impact and influence of high-profile contestants from popular family TV shows and reflect this in either the timing or content of the programme."
