JAMIE on the big Screen

You’ll probably already be aware of the romantic thriller starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard – but forget about tittle-tattle, here we’re focusing only on their new film Allied.

Directed by the awesome Robert Zemeckis, this true story about two WW2 assassins falling in love looks grand, ambitious and tense.

I heart Zemeckis, Brad and Marion, and will be first in the queue when it comes out on November 25.

Getting into the festive spirit relatively early is comedy Office Christmas Party, in cinemas December 9.

I’ll be honest, I’m not usually a fan of these types of slapstick movie – they’re always either too forced or gross for the sake of it.

This looks very funny, though, and features big names, with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman starring.

If trailers are anything to go by, it could be the surprise holiday hit of 2016.

But let’s not faff about any longer… Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to arrive on December 16 and annihilate every other film in its wake.

At the time of writing, little is known about the new characters in the first Star Wars spin-off since Disney took over, but from the trailers, teasers and a tantalising glimpse of Vader himself, it would take a hell of a lot for Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker to cock this up.

Jamie on the Small screen

The beauty of it being pitch-black at 6am is that us early risers can fully justify the duvet on the sofa with a hot chocolate and a movie, right? (Those weird people who insist on rushing about first thing can jog on.)

Luckily, there are lots of movies to choose from over on Sky Cinema, starting with the Dad’s Army remake.

This film takes everything you loved about the TV series and gently updates it.

Brilliantly cast, it’s a good old caper and tons of fun!

Less farcical but just as lively is Living Is Easy With Eyes Closed (great title but dreadful advice) – a film based on a John Lennon fan’s road trip to Almería in Spain to meet his idol.

If you’re still partial to a bit of Beatlemania (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?), you’ll love this tale of friendship, which won bucketloads of awards.

Speaking of idols, Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Revenant lands on Sky Cinema on November 25.

Earning him his long-awaited Oscar, this grim, relentless tale of triumph over adversity is borderline perfect.
