Paul O’Grady spoke about his own death in an interview saying he had ‘no fear’ after series of cardiac arrests

PAUL O'Grady spoke about his own death in a past interview and insisted he had "no fear" of dying.

It was confirmed that TV legend Paul had tragically passed away "unexpectedly but peacefully" yesterday aged 67.

After suffering two of three heart attacks - one in 2003 and another in 2006 he said: "I do count my blessings. I have had two heart attacks, and if I get to 60 that will be amazing. I don't fear anything nowadays."

Paul had another heart attack in 2014 and also suffered kidney failure.

The much-loved presenter also caught Covid during the pandemic and a debilitating battle the virus left him unable to work for two months.

During one of his cardiac arrests his heart briefly stopped, and Paul added to the Mirror: "Everyone asks 'did you see anything?' No, sorry. Nothing. No heavenly choirs, no light at the end of the tunnel."

His husband Andre Portasio announced the sad news of his death with a statement in which he said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

"He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.

"I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."
