Strictly Come Dancing’s Danny Mac hints at personal heartache despite topping leader board with stunning Argentine Tango
TEARFUL Danny Mac has confessed to having a "tough week" before performing his showstopping Argentine Tango on Saturday night.
The former Hollyoaks actor topped the leader board with 38 points after nailing his routine with partner Oti Mabuse.
But despite the excellent score - which included two 10s from judges Len Goodman and Bruno Toniolo - Danny gave the first sign that he was dealing with something in his personal life as he spoke to Claudia Winkleman.
Hugging Oti to him, he said: "Oti’s held my hand through a very tough week for me, that was for my dad."
Viewers quickly took to social media to speculate what had happened during the week leading up to Saturday's live show.
One Twitter user wrote: "you could see he teared up the moment he mentioned his dad.
"U can't blame him for not wanting to breakdown in front of viewers".

As Danny struggled to contain his emotions, Oti went to comfort her partner, but he stopped her from hugging him, which confused many fans, leading some to say he had snubbed her or been aggressive.
But the viewer continued: "Danny wasn't "aggressive" with oti. he was clearly about to cry after he mentioned his dad and wanted to get off camera asap."
Another fan added: "Is it just me or did he mention something re his dad this week? Looked upset".
Danny and Oti also appeared in a short video on Strictly's Instagram account, where they shared a long hug before Danny explained a bit more about what happened.
He said: "I just didn’t want to go there with that stuff but I just felt that otherwise if I looked miserable when I was getting those scores everybody would be like what’s wrong with him?
"What more does he want? But you’ve [Oti] been amazing this week."
The 28-year-old then took to Twitter to discuss the evening, and once again referred to the struggles he had had in his personal life this week.
He wrote: "An amazing AMAZING night.
"I've had a tough week personally but I really appreciate all your support. It means the world to me. x"
His post spawned plenty of replies from worried fans, who wished him well in whatever was going on behind the scenes.
One wrote: "I knew there was something up. You weren't as smiley as usual but hopefully things get better personally".
