THIS Morning bosses have upset viewers watching their Armistice Day coverage after they used the wrong date.
Rather than marking 1918 as the date the Armistice was signed, This Morning bosses put the date as 1916 – two years before troops stopped fighting during the First World War.
The wrong date appeared on a banner on the screen and some eagle eyed viewers weren’t impressed at their mistake.
One wrote: “Errr @thismorning what do you mean by your subtitle 'Armistice Day 1916-2016'? It didn't start in 1916 #armistice #factcheck.”
Another wrote: “@thismorning Armistice day is 1918-2016 we still have two years before the 100 anniversary.”
A third tried to correct them, tweeting: “@thismorning always thought armastis day was 11/11/1918 not 1916.”
Hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have been leading the coverage on the show and had been commended for their efforts prior to the mistake.
On the show so far, they’ve heard tributes to loved ones who have fought for their country during the phone in and met a soldier suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
