Hannah Spearritt’s former fiance cleared of assaulting the S Club 7 star after three witnesses fail to appear in court

HANNAH Spearritt's former fiance has been cleared of assaulting the S Club 7 star as his trial collapsed today.
Adam Thomas, 36, walked free due to lack of evidence after three witnesses fail to appear in court.
Thomas, from Chiswick in west London, was accused of one charge of common assault by beating stemming from an alleged dispute with the singer/actress at her home on 3 June.
He also faced one count of witness intimidation for allegedly bombarding the pop star with threatening text messages.
He denied the charges, and his trial had been due to kick off at Kingston Crown Court this morning.
However, the case collapsed when three witnesses failed to appear.
The judge found Thomas not guilty on both charges as the prosecution had no evidence to present.
Prosecutor Chris Hewertson told the court: "This was a prosecution case properly brought in the public interest.
"However there is not here at trial sufficient evidence which the prosecution can proceeded on this indictment."
Judge Michael Hunter said: "In these circumstances, with the crown having offered no evidence I can formerly record the finding of not guilty.
"The defendant can be discharged."

Hannah, 35, previously hinted she has been sick this week by taking to Twitter to thank fans for their well wishes.
She wrote: "Thanks for all my get well messages ... you really are a lovely lot."
The S Club star began dating the fitness trainer in 2013, and they were rumoured to have been engaged.
However, the romance came to an end two years later as the Primeval actress reportedly dumped him for her fellow bandmate Paul Cattermole.
She revived her former romance with Paul in 2015, but they split again earlier this year.
Hannah is now believed to be dating IT pro Tom Dibble — the son of two Labour councillors.
