JANET Street-Porter didn't hold back in slamming Prince Harry's strongly-worded statement about his relationship with Meghan Markle, urging the royal to "keep his mouth shut."
The outspoken presenter condemned his lengthy comments, issued by Kensington Palace today, as "a bit waffly" on today's episode of ITV's Loose Women.
She then revealed her no-frills opinion and ranted: "If he wants to be a prince he should keep his mouth shut and say as little as possible.
"It's a sign of weakness to say too much.
"If you're a strong personality, you should bite your lip."
The red-head said she knew the lawyers who advised the young royals personally, because she had used the same team to tackle her divorce.
In today's statement, Harry confirmed she is his girlfriend, and has said he is worried for her safety.
He acknowledged there is curiosity about his private life but added the Suits actress has been subjected to a “wave of abuse and harassment”.
Lead host Ruth Langsford agreed with Janet's blunt comments and said: "You can't be an accessible prince and not have people interested in the girl you might marry."
Yet presenter Coleen Nolan was feisty and took the opposing stance in support of Prince Charles' son.
She ranted: "Have we not learned anything from the Princess Diana situation?"

Prince Harry's detailed statement said: “Since he was young, Prince Harry has been very aware of the warmth that has been extended to him by members of the public.
“He feels lucky to have so many people supporting him and knows what a fortunate and privileged life he leads.
“He is also aware that there is significant curiosity about his private life.”
In the statement the palace condemned the racial undertones and sexism in some of the commentary about her, social media trolls and media attention.
And added: “Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.
“It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’.
“He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.”
Adding: “But the past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment.
“Some of this has been very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.
“Some of it has been hidden from the public – the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.”
News of the royal romance emerged just over a week ago when The Sunday Express reported the pair met in May while Harry was in Canada promoting Invictus Games 2017, the paralympics-style competition for injured servicemen and women and veterans he founded.
Although linked to a number of women including singer Ellie Goulding and Camilla Thurlow, Harry has been an eligible bachelor since he split from long-term girlfriend Cressida Bonas more than two years ago.
Last week the Royal Family’s former butler claimed Prince Harry is in love with his new flame.
