IN DANGER ALREADY?

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here camp is just 40 miles away from enormous bush fire

The Celebrities are gearing up to go into the jungle on Sunday but could it be more risky than they first thought?

I’M A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here starts in just five days but it seems this year’s campmates could be in a spot of bother before they even reach croc creek and snake rock.

On Tuesday an enormous bush fire – which is currently burning over 200 miles – has been reported just 40 miles from Springbrook National Park where the show is filmed.

But the glam has now been ditched for the camp's staple uniform

It’s claimed the fire is under control and is being managed by The New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service but this is just one of 46 currently burning across the Australian state.

Over 600 firefighters are working to tackle the major blazes but hot summer weather and unusually strong North Westerly winds are reported to be hampering some of their efforts.

The news comes as this year’s batch of campmates are preparing to head down to the National Park.

Over the past few days, the celebrities who’ve signed up to the show have been arriving in Brisbane and are now staying in a hotel before they are taken to their new jungle home.

As The Sun Online exclusively revealed, the ten celebrities entering the jungle this year are: Jordan Banjo, Wayne Bridge, Joel Dommett, Ola Jordan, Larry Lamb, Scarlett Moffatt, Sam Quek, Lisa Snowdon, Adam Thomas and Carol Vorderman.

When IAC bosses released the new, glossy shots of this year’s stars however, Homes Under the Hammer host Martin Roberts and broadcasting legend Danny Baker were missing – leading some to suspect they’ll be arriving in secret like Spencer Matthews, Ferne McCann and Vicky Pattison did last year.

The group are already wracked with nerves, with Ola saying: “I don’t know how I will cope.”

Others are taking the show in their stride, with Gogglebox’s Scarlett saying: “Eating testicles?

“I’ve been preparing by eating really chewy Scotch eggs and pretending they’re kangaroo balls.

“It will be weird seeing what the others on Gogglebox think about me.”

Ant and Dec have already landed in the jungle with their wives Lisa Armstrong and Ali Astall.

The danger of bush fires aren’t the only risk facing the celebs.

While ITV bosses pull out all the stops to make the camp as danger-free as possible, there’s one danger they might not be able to protect campmates from and incredibly, that’s the rice.

According to leading UK food scientist Richard Conroy, eating rice which has been reheated can be more toxic than chowing down on raw witchetty grubs.

He said: “ITV bosses will be doing everything they can to ensure the campmates will be eating food that looks truly stomach-turning, but will provide no lasting damage.

“The funny thing is, camp staples like rice will probably be more dangerous than dishes served up during Bushtucker trials.

“With campmates likely to be hungry and tired, they must be careful how they store cooked rice. If it is left lying around in warm temperatures, spores of bacteria called Bacillus cereus will grow.

“The spores will quickly multiply and reheating won’t kill the bacteria off. What you’re left with is toxic rice that can serve up vomiting and diarrhoea.

“Celebrities could easily find themselves spending more time on the toilet that in the Bush telegraph.”
