FORMER Eternal singer Kelle Bryan has opened up about the devastating reality of her deadly lupus condition.
Breaking down in tears, the 41-year-old revealed she is sometimes unable to touch her two children because she is so susceptible to infection.
Speaking on Loose Women, she revealed that she is often forced to wear surgical gloves while touching them, adding: "Sometimes I can’t touch them at all."
Kelle came close to death over the summer after she contracted a virus from her daughter - which led to her organs shutting down.
Within 48 hours after she came back from nursery she was coughing up blood and was taken to hospital.
However she is now back on track and managing the condition once again.
She told the panel: “I am doing much better. I have just had a brain scan and the lupus is not on my brain and I have another bout of chemotherapy in six months times.”
Kelle was diagnosed with Lupus in 2000 after waking up and being unable to move her finger.
Lupus is a complex condition that affects many parts of the body that can be life threatening. Symptoms include rashes, fatigue, joint pain and swelling.
It is caused by problems with the immune system and is aggravated by stress and there is currently no cure - although there are different medications that can help relieve symptoms.
At the time she was diagnosed she had just been dropped by Eternal via a fax and her parents were getting a divorce.
"Lupus is stress related, it was a combination of things in my life. I woke up one morning and I couldn’t more my finger," she said.
Kelle, who has developed a stutter as a result of the condition, revealed it is often has hidden symptoms which causes problems.
She said: "I go do my shopping and I can’t always open my purse. The challenges are vast and people can’t understand it."
Kelle’s appearance went down very well with viewers of the show who took to Twitter to praise her.
